1973 BMW R75/5: Removing the Wiring Harness and Electrics

I added a page,  61 BMW R75/5 Removing the Wire Harness & Electrics, showing how I removed the wiring harness and electrics.  I took detailed pictures of the wiring layout, labeled all the ends and made some sketches so when I reassembly the wiring, it should be a lot easier.  Here are some of the pictures.

  1. I have used a cheep double coil from a local -Cheep- Bike bits suppler for around ten years now ,on my R80/7. It cost just a few quid (£) and is the size of a matchbox. No problems with it at all. Funny thing was ,my friend who was with me in the workshop made a guard for it out of 6mm steel because it looked so mickey mouse surrounded by all that heavy metal ,that probably was twenty times the weight of the coil. • Hi Jason,

(Grin) … I figured it might be a year before I finished and that’s an eternity for an old forgetful fart like me. It paid off when I assembled the wiring as it was straight forward to connect everything in the the right place.

I’m pleased you like the blog. I hope to get to the UK one day and do some riding.

      Best.
      Brook.
